Mille - Crysteena

The crystals never stop shining in the realm of electronic music. Mille's track is at least six months old and is now blowing up in the sphere of blogs. Smooth Scandinavian production values combined with glittering treble, these are not new age crystals but rather addictive little buggers which bond with eardrums leaving the listener fiending for MORE! Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Heads Will Roll (A-Trak Remix)

Bangers come and go but Karen O's presence on this A-Trak, best DJ of all-time according to his trophy case, solidify this remix into eternal bangerdom. After a few shrieks and high pitched yells from Karen the steel I-beam manufacturing melody overwhelms the listener until they feel like King Louis the XVI. Scope the track and lose your skull.

Miike Snow - Miike Snow

Miike Snow's debut album is a smash hit, so naturally I steered as far away from this cut as I could. Then I gave in after asking about one of his tracks at an Urban Outfitters and decided to give it a listen; naturally, I hated the album. For some reason or another it still ended up on shuffle and I was forced to listen in which is when I realized this album is a real pop-banger (if there is such a thing). The production on these tracks is incredible, Miike Snow (not the name of any member of the group) would have gotten away with a classic album even without the lyrics. Personally I am a huge hater of almost all lyrics, unless they some how include the references to 'electricity' or 'tonuge,' but I actually catch myself singing along with these tracks, and embarrassingly caught myself with a skip in my step while going to class and bumping 'Animal,' Miike Snow's noteworthy single.

Sleigh Bells - 2HELLWU

I have been really lazy about updates recently, but once finals are over next Thursday there will be a handful of new albums and remixes for you beezies to get your hands on.

This group is called Sleigh Bells, it consists of two members on guitars and vocals with the perpetually dirty drum beats recorded in the... foreground? The distortion on these tracks is normal, they are the studio versions and contain more grit than a sandpaper factory. The chicks' vocals are intense and a little scary, invoking feelings that make you want to either 'dance for your life' or curl up in a corner and accept your own personal apocalypse. personal favorites are 'Crown on the Ground' and 'Beach Girls.'

Disco-House Revival

Alright so this whole disco-house music craze is blowing up and I have to admit, I am a huge fan. These tracks have some real power to 'em, enough to get even the most cynical people to groove to the weird nostalgic electronic mess of rhythms.

First up is this Bobby Analog track called Break Addict. The intro is a little abrasive but once the melody drops it's a real headbanger. I can't find much information about this artist other than people dig it he is unsigned.

Bobby Analog - Break Addict

Second is this track by Rockets called Golden Strings. This track is the real thing, pumping beats underneath a montage of catchy disco melodies. I even like the Cover art, very descriptive of the tunes.

Rockets - Golden Strings

Next is another mp3 link (sorry no albums from these guys yet) from a group called Palermo Disko Machine. This track has a little bit of an extensive intro but gets down to it eventually and is well worth the weight. Apparently Palermo Disko Machine consists of Jens from another band called Digitalism, in case you were interested.

Palermo Disko Machine - Theme from Palermo Disko Machine

Last but certainly not least is this hour long mixtape from Only Children, one the of the best mixtapes to come out of Chicago in a long time. I didn't catch any of the Chi-town references until GiMiTRi pointed it out, but if you look at the cover art it is filled with them. This mix is simply incredible, an hour of pure grooving that literally only gets better and dirtier as it moves along. A VERY HIGHLY suggested download, I think you can even stream it from the link. Safety.

I don't normally check out blogs that have nothing to do with music, which makes me wonder how the hell I even came across this site. Irreguardless this blog is incredible, it's filled to the brim with riveting stories of sex, drugs, and real life. She writes well, is honest, hilarious, and knows how to get down. ABSOLUTELY worth checking out, just don't look at it when you have to cram for a test all day. words.

Binary - L.A. Lights

So I found this song Heatwave on Binary Entertainment's blog which I check out pretty regularly, and I ended up listening to it so many damn times I felt compelled to purchase the album off of iTunes (I couldn't even remember my iTunes username it's been so long since I've bought music). The binary blog is pretty dope, they post pics and write what they think the song represents. The post about this song in particular captured me, especially when it talked about "being 17 and with THAT girl," made me think about how realistic interactions with girls used to be before we got wrapped up in all of this. Anyways the whole album is dope, classic dreamwave synths to get you floating through the day. It was super appropriate that this song came in my life just as SLscene got a Heatwave of its own. .get.down.

Duck Sauce - aNYway

This Duck Sauce video has been blowing up in the inter-web for awhile now, it wasn't until this morning that it finally got stuck in my head (and on this website). Good luck groovin'

7zip - Winrar alternative

Some people have been asking me how to access the files they are trying from soothe.an.ear. I personally use WinRar but know that there is a perfectly safe and free alternative called 7zip that seems to be easy to navigate for new bloggers. It is designed for Windows users but I have heard there is a Mac OS update available that works fine. If there is any questions or complications post 'em in the comment forums or get.at.me via some other method.

RJD2 - Tin Foil Hat EP

RJD2 is back with his new EP The Tin Foil Hat (Not the album artwork). If you pay attention to music news, RJD2 dropped a bomb recently that he was starting his own record label with Trent Reznor and Jack White, I believe it is called RJ's Electrical Connections. This EP is a far cry from his previous release The Third Hand, which was chocked full of dope beats and distracting lyrics. Similar to the Mike Posner I had sent to me by augustus. Instead The Tin Foil Hat is a return to classic RJD2; with perfect hip hop beats, ever impressive drums, and piano riffs that will make your dumb new girlfriend think you have class...[insert other filler words here].

Fan Death - Reunited

Fan Death - Reunited

Funky new video from Fan Death. The song is melodic, catchy, and peaceful; and the video is chocked full of allusions to famous artists of music's past (only half of which I knew of, but Marilyn Manson is in there for you Ohioans). short post.enjoy.

Pyramiddd/ Starfucker - Starfucker

Pyramiddd, the artists formerly and more prolifically known as Starfucker is a fresh group out of Portland (Oregan). This album dropped all the way back in 2008 and I haven't come across anything awe-inspiring lately (despite extensive searching) so I decided to drop this new classic on you kids. The sounds are astonishing in their ability to lighten any mood, some of the songs will make you think your ears are in.jesting candy and that somewhere along the line this addiction may rot ear drums, a chance I am willing to take. Plus I heard the jury is still out on the research (arrested development reference). The relentless poppy/bubbly tones of the song construction act as a sort of boogie switch, capable of igniting groups of: old friends, complete strangers, even mormons, and emos in an eerily involuntary miniature explosion of drum and melody inspired rythmic motion known to some as expression and to the squares as dancing. Bang-a-rang includes: Rawnald Gregory Erickson 2nd, Pop song, and my favorite German Love.

Vitalic - Flashmob

Electronic music at its best. Layers of 21st century sounds with syncopated drums loops. Protect your neck from the constant head movement this album induces. More accessible than Vitalic's last release, OK Cowboy, and certainly more cohesive. Incomprehensible female vocals on some tracks add an abstract feel. Track two sounds like a European verison of Lipps Inc's Funky Town. Recommended activities while listening are riding bikes perpendicular to six lanes of traffic with Albert Hoffman's love child or a highly caffeinated morning commute. These tracks get you moving.

Mochipet - Bunnies and Muffins

Mochipet is back with another LP and it is magnificent. It is significantly softer than his previous release "Master P on Atari" which had a sort of industrial feel to is grungy beats and delightfully choppy melodies. "Bunnies and Muffins" is an incredible album with some really floaty songs to get you skipping to class and some Ratatat style heavy guitar riffs if you are power walking to class because you took a BR and are now going to be late. words.

Panty Raid - The Sauce

Panty Raid is a new group to me, coming through on this album with some slower hip hop inspired beats and extremely dirty synthesizers making up the bulk of the head bobbing melody. Most of the tracks start out a little slow for me, then build into something I can really get into. Good on speakers, awesome on headphones, dope all around. Get at it.

Neon Indian - Psychic Chasms (LP)

Neon Indian releases their LP Psychic Chasms, containing all of their tracks from the previous EP with the same name plus a few extras. The classics are on there including DEADBEAT SUMMER and SHOULD HAVE TAKEN ACID WITH YOU along with a few new bangers, some even are surprisingly rough to the ear while others are nice and floaty. Absolutely a must have fir this year.
